Course overview
Turn sales and marketing data into decisions, with AI doing the heavy lifting
Sales and marketing teams generate more data than most people have time to read: leads, campaigns, conversions, churn, spend. The people who can turn that data into a clear recommendation, fast, are the ones decision-makers trust.
This course teaches you to do that with Power BI and AI working together. You connect to real data, clean and model it, build dashboards that use AI-native tools to flag what’s actually driving a number, and use a general-purpose AI tool to turn a diagnosis into a stakeholder-ready narrative. Every module ends with a routine for checking AI output before anyone else sees it.
You finish with a working dashboard, a documented diagnosis of a real business problem, and a design for a simple AI reporting agent you could bring back to your own team.
Where it comes from
Built from a decade of corporate analytics training
This course grew out of sales and marketing analytics training Global Analyst Academy has delivered for corporate clients, including a Power BI programme run for FirstBank. It has been rebuilt as a public course and updated for the AI tools now built into Power BI itself.
What you will learn
Six capabilities analysts and marketers need now
Read sales, marketing and customer data
Tell what a sales, marketing or customer number is actually measuring, and where the three overlap.
Connect and clean data fast
Connect Power BI to real data sources and clean it, by hand and with Copilot, without losing track of what changed.
Model data that holds up
Build table relationships and a simple star schema a dashboard can be trusted to run on.
Diagnose with AI-native visuals
Use Key Influencers, Decomposition Tree and anomaly detection to find what is driving a number, not just what it is.
Write the narrative, don't just paste it
Turn an AI-drafted summary into a stakeholder-ready narrative, and catch what the AI got wrong.
Design a reporting agent
Design a simple AI agent that keeps a dashboard current, and know what it should never send without a human check.
Who it is for
Built for people who build or read dashboards
Sales and marketing analysts
Analysts who build reports today and want to build them faster and defend them better.
Business intelligence associates
BI and data associates who want sales and marketing depth to go with their tool skills.
Marketing and commercial managers
Managers who review dashboards built by others and want to ask sharper questions of them.
Career changers into analytics
Professionals moving into a sales, marketing or BI analyst role who need a practical portfolio piece.
You will get the most from this course with some comfort in Excel or spreadsheets. No coding background or prior Power BI experience is needed.

Course syllabus
Four modules over three weeks
The course runs over three weeks and four modules. Each week has recorded lessons and readings, a live case session on Wednesday evening and a deliverable due on Sunday. Modules 1 and 2 share Week 1, Module 3 runs in Week 2, and Module 4 and the capstone close out Week 3. The cases follow two fictional organisations, Aquarius Trust Bank and Sabi Pay, from a dip in results to a boardroom-ready diagnosis. Open each module to see what it covers.
Module 1: Sales, Marketing and Customer Analytics, Reframed for AI (Week 1)
What sales, marketing and customer analytics each measure, where they overlap, and a first look at Power BI and where AI sits inside it. Worked through the Aquarius Trust Bank and Sabi Pay cases.
Live: Wednesday 13 January, 6pm to 8pm WAT (GMT+1).
AI lab: From a messy question to an answerable one.
Deliverable: An ecosystem and stakeholder map for the running case. Due Sunday of Week 1.
Module 2: Connecting and Cleaning Data, with Copilot (Week 1)
Connecting Power BI to Excel, CSV, web and API sources, then cleaning and shaping data in Power Query, first by hand and then with Copilot, and reviewing the steps it generates before you apply them.
Live: covered in the Week 1 session alongside Module 1.
AI lab: Clean it twice, compare the results.
Deliverable: A cleaned dataset, done by hand and with Copilot, with a short note on what differed. Due Sunday of Week 1.
Module 3: Data Modelling and AI-Native Visualisation (Week 2)
Table relationships and a simple star schema, building a report page with Copilot and then by hand, and using Key Influencers, Decomposition Tree and anomaly detection to find what is actually driving a sales or marketing number.
Live: Wednesday 20 January, 6pm to 8pm WAT (GMT+1).
AI lab: Diagnose, then explain it to someone who wasn’t in the room.
Deliverable: A working report page and a one-paragraph diagnosis. Due Sunday of Week 2.
Module 4: Reporting, Agents and the Capstone (Week 3)
Turning a finding into a narrative a sales or marketing leader will act on, editing what AI drafts, designing a simple reporting agent and deciding what it should never send without a human check, and what data protection law means for putting customer data through AI tools (with Nigeria’s NDPA as the worked example).
Live: Wednesday 27 January, 6pm to 8pm WAT (GMT+1). Live cohort participants present and defend their capstone; self-paced participants submit a recorded walkthrough.
Capstone: Diagnose, Dashboard, Defend. A working dashboard, a documented diagnosis and a reporting agent design. Due Sunday 31 January.
Capstone project
Diagnose, Dashboard, Defend
Your certificate is earned through the capstone, not attendance. You diagnose a real business problem, build a dashboard for it, and design an AI agent that would keep it running.
Most of the work happens across Weeks 2 and 3, building on each module’s deliverable. In Week 3 you present and defend it in the live session, or submit a short recorded walkthrough if you’re on the self-paced track.
Assessment: weekly deliverables 40%, capstone dashboard and diagnosis 40%, narrative and agent design 20%. Pass mark 60%, with every weekly deliverable submitted. Scores of 80% or more earn the certificate with distinction.
What your capstone includes
- Ecosystem and stakeholder map
- Cleaned dataset, with AI and manual cleaning compared
- A working Power BI dashboard, built partly with Copilot
- A written diagnosis using Key Influencers and Decomposition Tree
- A one-page reporting agent design
The experience
How you will learn
Live case sessions
Two hours every Wednesday evening (cohort track), built around the running case. Every session is recorded for the self-paced track.
One running case
An original case following Aquarius Trust Bank's retail lending sales team and Sabi Pay's digital marketing team.
Hands-on, not watch-along
Every module ends with a deliverable built on real data, not a quiz.
Tools you keep
A dataset, Power BI templates and the AI lab prompts, yours to reuse at work.
Tools used: Power BI Desktop with Copilot (a free-tier licence is provided for the course), and a general-purpose AI tool of your choice, ChatGPT or Claude (free tier is enough). No paid software required.
How the 3 weeks run
Week by week
Week 1 starts with the first live session on Wednesday 13 January 2027. FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does this give me a Power BI certification from Microsoft?
No. This is a GAA course that uses Power BI and AI tools to teach sales and marketing analytics. It is not a Microsoft certification. You leave with a GAA Certificate in Power BI & AI for Sales and Marketing and a portfolio dashboard, not a Microsoft credential.
Do I need any analytics or coding background?
No coding is required. Comfort with Excel or spreadsheets is enough to start. If you have never opened Power BI before, Week 1 covers the basics you need.
Which AI tools do I need, and do I have to pay for them?
You need Power BI Desktop with Copilot, for which a free-tier licence is provided for the course, and a general-purpose AI tool such as ChatGPT or Claude, where the free tier is enough. No paid software is required to complete the course.
How much does the course cost?
Full price is ₦200,000. Early bird is ₦170,000 if you apply and pay by Friday 18 December 2026. You can also pay in two instalments of ₦100,000, or apply as a team of three or more for ₦180,000 each.
When does the course start?
The January 2027 cohort starts Wednesday 13 January 2027. Applications close Wednesday 6 January 2027.
What is the difference between the live cohort and self-paced tracks?
The live cohort track includes Wednesday evening sessions at 6pm to 8pm WAT (GMT+1) across the 3 teaching weeks, plus everything in self-paced. The self-paced track gives you the same recordings, materials and AI labs on your own schedule, with the same capstone and certificate, submitted as a short recorded walkthrough instead of a live defence. You choose your track when you apply.
What if I miss a live session?
Every live session is recorded. If you are on the cohort track and miss one, you can catch up from the recording before the next session.
What do I receive at the end?
A GAA Certificate in Power BI & AI for Sales and Marketing on passing the capstone, a working dashboard built on the running case, the Power BI templates and AI lab prompts used in the course, and 12 months of access to the course materials on the GAA Learning Portal.
Can my organisation send a team, or sponsor my place?
Yes. Teams of three or more from one organisation get 10% off, at ₦180,000 each, paid by bank transfer. Choose the team option when you apply and we will send the details.
How does this relate to the Power BI training GAA has run for corporate clients, like FirstBank?
This course is built from sales and marketing analytics training Global Analyst Academy has delivered for corporate clients, including a Power BI programme for FirstBank’s team. It has been rebuilt as a public course, extended from 3 days to 3 weeks, and updated with Power BI’s AI-native features and a general-purpose AI tool, which were not part of the original programme.
